samtidsritualisme
[contemporary ritualism]

An ongoing body of work exploring the ceremonial rituals hidden within contemporary life: nightlife, recovery, waiting, digital preservation, belonging, projection, transformation, and becoming.

Through sculpture, wearable objects, scanning technologies, digital environments, 3D modelling, immersion and installation, ‘Samtidsritualisme’ reframes everyday behaviours as modern rituals. It asks us to consider our acts of repetition that we often perform in search of connection, memory, identity, or presence.

The work draws from my experiences with identity, queer nightlife, growing up in digital spaces, and the laborious repetition of adult life, and is heavily inspired by my interest in fantasy and folklore, cultural exploration, archival practices, and preservation of language and community.

By positioning contemporary existence with the same emotional and philosophical weight often reserved for ancient ritual practices, ‘Samtidsritualisme’ evokes questioning of the modern landscape and the motions we go through every day just to exist, and is approached from a trauma-informed and disability-led perspective.
